Mugford Pharmacy put down its roots in 1963, being originally called "Vestal Drug Store". The founder, Dr. Harold J. Mugford, Sr., is the father of the current owners, Cindy and Jim Mugford, Jr. Dr. Harold was commonly nicknamed "Mug". Surprisingly, prior to Dr. Harold's pharmacy training, he played Collegiate Football for Temple University and professionally for the Philadelphia Eagles.
Dr. Harold instilled in his children a strong work ethic, especially in personal caring of the customer!. He's left a legacy of customer service excellence with is children. How many businesses have their customers say, literally, "I love you" and mean it? Located now only less than two blocks away from the original location, Mugford Pharmacy is committed to caring for the residents of South Knoxville and the surrounding areas. Jim served (with accommodation) our country in the Navy for 6 years. He received his B.S in Biology and Psychology from the University of Tennessee. He has over 48 years pharmacy experience. He's an expert in Pharmacy Operations safety, making the pharmacy one of the safest in the country.
Cindy Mugford, B.S.,CPhT.

Cindy received her B.S. in Chemistry from Tennessee Tech University in Cookeville, Tn. With her deeply compassionate and caring heart, she loves her customers like family-more people tell her "I love you" than a person can count! She is also the pharmacy expert in Insurance and Order Entry, with over 38 years experience.
Nelson Chapman, Pharm.D.
Nelson received his Doctorate of Pharmacy from Mercer University in Atlanta, Ga. He has almost 30 years of experience in Pharmacy, and comes from a family pharmacy heritage, with his dad, who dedicated his life to his community for over 60 years. He also is a Certified Immunization Pharmacist.
